Recently, Qualcomm launched its most powerful mobile processor, the new Snapdragon 8 Elite during Snapdragon Summit 2024 at Hawaii. This processor is more powerful than the predessor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Snapdragon 8 Elite features the latest Qualcomm Oryon Cryo architecture that was previously introduced in the Snapdragon X Elite chipsets for laptop computers. The new processor has achieved massive increase in the performance in terms of AnTuTu scores. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 scored around 2.2 million (around 22 lakh) AnTuTu score while the latest processor has reached to 3 million (around 30 lakh) AnTuTu benchmarks.
Not only the performance but the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 or 8 Elite also comes with powerful AI processing capbilities. So this year and the next, a lot of smartphones will be introduced with wide range of AI features that help make the lives of the people more easier. The 8 Elite comes with Hexagon NPU (Neural Processing Unit), second-gen Oryon CPU and Qualcomm Adreno GPU. This means, that the smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Elite will offer powerful gaming performance as well as multi-tasking.
After the introduction of Snapdragon 8 Elite, many companies have confirmed their new models that will have this chipset. Other companies have not confirmed but it is expected that they will soon introduce their models in the global market and Indian market in coming months. Snapdragon 8 Elite Phones
Realme GT 7 Pro:
Even before the launch of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the Chinese company Realme confirmed that it upcoming Realme GT 7 Pro will arrive with the processor. The early leaks suggest that that upcoming device will have a huge 6,500mAh battery with 120W fast-charging. As per rumours, the device may come with 50MP primary camrea with LYT-700 sensor with OIS, 8MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP periscope lens, making it an ideal combination for good photography. The smartphone will likely come with Realme UI 6 based on Android 15 and IP69 rating. Realme GT 7 Pro will launch in November, company will soon finalize the date.
ASUG ROG Phone 9
ASUS has stopped the production of all its other smartphones in the entry, mid and higher mid range for years. Now the Taiwanese company only offers ROG (Republic of Gamers) smartphone series to the customers. The compnay confirmed to launch its ASUS ROG Phone 9 gaming smartphones on November 19, 2024 with Snapdragon 8 Elite. This year, the company may or may not revamp certain parts of its design. Last year, it made the overall design like a normal phone but kept the glowing light of ROG on the back. This year, the ROG Phone 9 may have screen with higher refresh rate and offer unique features compared to the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series.
Xiaomi 15 Series
Everyeone is waiting for Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphones since last year after the company had success with its Xiaomi 14 series powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The upcoming series will also feature the latest Snapdragon processor and offer powerful performance and AI processing. Like last year, the company will keep the patnership with Leica and offer new lenses for better photography and improve the quality of the display. Xiaomi 15 lineup will first launch in China and international market and after will arrive in India.
iQOO 13
iQOO has become quite popular brand since its launch and last year, it introduce a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered smartphone at around Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 60,000 price bracket. Compared to the other smartphones in the flagship segment, it was the lowest price for such a premium smartphone. Although some things were not presernt like other devices, it was a perfect smartphone as a whole. This year, the Snapdragon’s latest processor will be included in the iQOO 13 which will launch on December 3.
OnePlus 13
To compete with the above smartphone, the Chinese company OnePlus will introduce its next-gen flagship smartphone this year in China. OnePlus 13 may arrive in India after the international launch and drastically improve everything compared to the previous OnePlus 12. Along with it, the company may launch OnePlus 13R with a different processor. It will likely have an LTPO AMOLED display with higher refresh rate, peak brightness and better quality. The rumours say that it will have a 50MP triple camera setup and also offer 50MP selfie camera. OnePlus 13 launch in India is expected in January 2025.
REDMAGIC 10 Pro
REDMAGIC, a Chinese brand owned by Nubia Technologies, has recently confirmed to launch its next gaming smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Elite on December 3, 2024. REGMAGIC 10 Pro will succeed the REDMAGIC 9 Pro and offer better specifications and gaming experience to gamers. The smartphone will not directly be available in India as it will arrive in China and global market. The launch date is yet a mystery.
Nubia Z70 Ultra
Nubia Technologies will also launch its standalone flagship smartphone besides the REDMAGIC 10 Pro, it is called Nubia Z70 Ultra. In terms of features, the company only confirmed the processor and under-display camera. The phone, unfortunately, may not arrive in India but in China and global market.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Series
Likely next year, Samsung will introduce its new Galaxy S25 series with improved AI features and signficant improvement in the camera. From the Samsung Galaxy S23 series,the Samsung Galaxy S24 series had great improvements. Last year, the South Korean tech giant surprised everyone by introducing Galaxy AI system for the users, boosting their productivity and giving them a new direction on how useful a mobile can be.
So far, these devices are confirmed or expected to feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and offer powerful processing, gaming and AI capabiltilies. However, depending on the software optimization and individual features, the performance of the processor may be different to different devices. Samsung Galaxy S25 smartphones are expected to launch in the first week of January 2025.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Vs Apple A18 Chips
Snapdragon 8 Elite is much more powerful than the Apple A18 and A18 Pro chips. Apple’s chips score maximum 1.6 million (around 1,6XX,XXX points) while the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite AnTuTu Score is around 2.7 million (around 2.7XX,XXX points). This is a significant improvement in mobile processing. However, it depends on how well the smartphones are optimised to carry out their tasks.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Vs MediaTek Dimensity 9400
MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 9400 is a strong competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It scores the same 2.6 million. Both the 8 Elite and Dimensity 9400, on some devices, managed to score around 3.0 million. Still, not counting the numbers, it depends on the software and right choice of hardware like RAM speed, memory speed and other factors to take performance to the next level. Still, such high scores ensure that the devices perform well and delivery powerful AI processing.
