DC Extended Universe has introduced three major movies this year including Shazam! Fury of Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle and after nearly 4 years, James Wan is bringing the next chapter of Aquaman’s life. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom or Aquaman 2 is the next DCEU movie and sequel to the Aquaman movie released in 2018. According to Wikipedia, the new Aquaman movie is coming out on December 20, 2023 this year. After Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash and Blue Beetle, the Aquaman 2 is set to continue the DC Extended Universe and introduce new characters.
Cast of Aquaman 2:
The cast of the movie has remained the same except a few new faces. Jason Momoa will still continue his role as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. Patrick Wilson who played the main villain and former king of Atlantis ‘Orm Marius’ in the first movie. In the last movie, Black Manta played a brief but memorable role and this time, he appears to be the main villain in the story. According to reports and rumours, Amber Heard who played ‘Mera’ in the first Aquaman movie in 2018 was replaced by Emilie Clarke but there is no official announcement.

Aquaman 2 Movie Direction:
DC Fans and movie goers have high expectations from the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom movie coming out this year. Since James Wan has taken the seat as director, there may not be significant change in the direction. According to the trailer released by DC, Aquamn has become the king of the sea. Now, black manta is planning an attack on Aquaman and kill him and everything he loves. Besides the beautiful scenes, technology and gadget, the plot of the movie seems familiar to the other vendetta movies.
Will it tie in with Justice League 2?
After the release of Justice League Synder Cut in 2021, fans want Zack back to direct the next Justice League 2 movie. The new JLA 2 is unlikely to come any time soon. Unlike Marvel, DC has yet to perfect and plan its movie series. The Suicide Squad movies, Blue Beetle, and Shazam do not tie well with the other movies including rumoured JLA 2 movie.
